In the second song battle between the two groups, we compare their phone promotional songs: f(x)’s Chocolate Love and miss A’s Love Again.
KpopEncarta: The phone songs then: love again vs chocolate love
Thekoreanjjang: This match-up is interesting because of their respective promotions. In America you wouldn’t expect to see top pop artists promote merchandise in this fashion.
Thekoreanjjang: Yet both groups managed to produce commercially popular songs that were really just promotional songs. In this case its lg chocolate vs samsung anycall.
KpopEncarta: Chocolate love is interesting too cuz SNSD also did a version themselves with a completely different feel
Thekoreanjjang: Yeah you had SNSD’s bubble pop version vs f(x)’s electro pop.
KpopEncarta: f(x) did a great job in this MV as always, another very well done MV from SME.
Thekoreanjjang: A lot of things worked really well for them in this MV. This is autotune at its finest matched with the right attire and sexy choreography.
KpopEncarta: Pretty much, yeah
Thekoreanjjang: I would so buy an lg chocolate. Oh wait I used to own one!
Thekoreanjjang: Now for miss A love again.
KpopEncarta: This one is interesting because it’s before min joined them. Min made a cameo apperance, but this was all Jia, Fei, Suzy.
Thekoreanjjang: Oh yeah? Always full of interesting facts, Jon. Anyway, we have another unique song to critique.
KpopEncarta: At the very end, you see a shadow walking away that’s supposed to be Min.
Thekoreanjjang: I thought love again was a pretty fun, upbeat, and catchy song. I can see why it was successful as a promotional song. Still i don’t know if it came across as effectively as f(x)’s chocolate love.
KpopEncarta: True. At the end of the day, after watching these…
Thekoreanjjang: Even if this was promoted at the same time as SNSD’s version…f(x) perfectly re-interpreted this in their own style.
KpopEncarta: I think i’d rather have the LG Chocolate.
Thekoreanjjang: Yeah the interesting thing is that miss A likes to change around their style a lot through their different promotions. What I found in love again was a good song, but not one that necessarily highlighted their best style. This is compared with Chocolate Love which seemed to hit on all of f(x)’s strong points.
KpopEncarta: Pretty much
Thekoreanjjang: The end result for me was a more enjoyable song. I’d have to go with chocolate love this round.
KpopEncarta: Yep, same here.
Thekoreanjjang: That makes it all tied up 3-3 again!
