[Drama Recap] Fashion King Episode 20 *FINAL*

Here we recap and discuss episode 20 of Fashion King.  Caution, spoilers below.  Don’t read if you don’t want to know what happens.

Wow.  There was so much wrong with that ending that I don’t even know where to start.  I’m not even going to do a detailed recap just because I don’t want to waste your time or mine by reading it.  Here’s a very brief summary though.

Madam Jo’s “discovery” last episode was that Young Gul was leasing his car, his home, and bought an expensive apartment in New York recently.  Um, okay…  She goes to tell this to Jae Hyuk, who already knows about all this, and asks her what she wants him to do about it.  What she wants him to do is use all these extravegant purchaces to slander Young Gul to the press and spread rumors that he’s been pocketing money on the side.  Uh, of course he’s pocketing the money; it’s his own freaking company.  It’s not like he’s screwing over shareholders or anything.  He has operating expenses that he pays and he keeps the rest.  Isn’t that the point of business?  Madam Jo also wants them to charge less commision than them, which makes Jae Hyuk look at her as if this was a brilliant business strategy.  Hmm, charge less than the competition.  Only a sharp business mind could’ve come up with that; clearly she’s not a business owner for nothing.  Regardless, it’s a stupid conversation.

And now we basically turn back the clock and because of all the crap that Jae Hyuk’s doing, Young Gul’s business is no longer doing well.  Their creditors come take their stuff, everyone wants to know where Young Gul is, etc etc.  Ga Young, of course, is upset and goes to ask Jae Hyuk why he’s doing that.  At first Jae Hyuk pretends like he trying to forget her like she wanted, but she barely makes it out the door when he sprints after her to tell her how much he loves her.

While all this is going down, Anna decides that it’s time to jump ship and accepts an offer from Jae Hyuk’s dad to come back to work for J Fashion.  Chil Bok and Il Gook are nowhere to be found, and neither is Young Gul for that matter because he’s decided to go incommunicado to stare at his dad’s grave.  When he gets back, Young Gul decides to give Jae Hyuk his YGM shares in exchange for helping Ga Young put on the fashion show that he promised her and can no longer due because he’s broke now.  Jae Hyuk’s dad hears about this and beats the shit out of him for letting Young Gul trick him once again.

Afterwards, Young Gul vanishes to the wind, even though everyone of importance knows about his little New York apartment.  Ga Young is apparently all upset about it and hasn’t been getting out of bed lately, but immediately agrees to go to New York with Jae Hyuk, who apparently got approval from his parents.  He’s been busy playing creepy stalker and goes through her mail to intercept a letter from Young Gul to Ga Young, which asks her to come to the US and also includes a plane ticket.

Over in New York, Young Gul is moping around about Ga Young and thinks back to the misadventures here, including going back to their old apartment to cry on the stairs outside.  He finds out somehow that Ga Young is in New York and has returned to fashion school.  Young Gul goes to surprise her, but sees her smiling with Jae Hyuk.  Later, he gives her a call and she’s not at all surprised to hear from him for some reason.  After he says he misses her, some random guy in a suit comes up and shoot him.  Ga Young apparently did not hear the shot or is ignoring it as she just emotionlessly says she misses him too.

Final Thoughts

As I said…awful, awful ending.  The only reason that I’m not surprised by that ending not making sense is because this drama hasn’t made sense since they left New York the first time.  Ever since, we’ve been treated to the same drivel over and over again.  May as well have called this series Plumbing King since the fashion aspect of this drama could’ve been replaced with anything from how they used it.  Or hell, call it Douchebag King since both Young Gul and Jae Hyuk were both vying pretty hard for that title.  That particular contest certainly lasted longer than the travesty they did call “Fashion King”.  Jae Hyuk definitely wins by default what with Young Gul being dead and all.

I guess we can talk about that first.  So did Ga Young really not hear the shot being fired?  Why was she so emotionless after not hearing from him for so long?  Or has her character been warped to the point where she ordered a hit on him?  Jae Hyuk did say that he’d do all he could to make her forget about Young Gul, and it’s not like he couldn’t have found out about Young Gul’s address.  He already knew he bought a house; he could’ve probably had his New York team spy for him like he normally does.  Feel free to discuss your conspiracy theories in comments.

There were so many useless scenes and characters in here.  Take the flashback for example between Young Gul and Ga Young.  Even to the end, she still doesn’t remember meeting him way back when.  You’re telling me that they put that in just so Young Gul would have a deeper connection with her?  Yeah, that sure as hell did not come off like that.  Tae San was also a character that could have definitely been used better.  What happened to building him a fashion empire?   He just signed off on the money just like that?  Jung Ah was pointless as well and served no purpose other than to tattle on Young Gul early on to get him deported.  May as well have left her in New York for all the good she did in Korea when she showed up again.

Anna’s ending was a damn joke.  At the end, we hear her talking to someone on the phone saying that she’s on her way to Italy and that she hopes that they can still be friends when they see each other next.  I’m going to assume that she’s talking to Jae Hyuk so that she can have some semblance of closure.  Rather than the untalented girl chasing after the guy who doesn’t want her, she’s accepted her friend status and is doing something she wants.  More power to her for that, especially since she’s the one character I actually didn’t want to strangle.  Although, once again, I can’t believe I missed out on seeing her in New York so she could film this crap.

So much for loving Young Gul, huh Ga Young.  After just a month, she already gives up on him and goes off with the rival that’s caused the two of them so much grief.  She knows that he’s the one who caused Young Gul’s downfall, but I guess that’s okay in her book?  I’d also like to think that Jae Hyuk’s parents finally gave up on him doing anything business related and that’s why they allowed him to go to New York with Ga Young.  Douchebag King finally did get the girl somehow though so I guess that’s all that matters to him.  He certainly hasn’t been worthwhile anywhere else.

Young Gul I guess got closure on his issues, albeit in a random bloody way.  I mean I didn’t expect him to fulfill that idiotic vow of taking over J Fashion, but I figured they’d at least let him keep his little shop in Dongdaemun with Ga Young happily designing clothes at her little boutique.  But no, I guess logical endings just aren’t this writer’s thing.  His guilt over not reconciling with his dad could’ve been a great plot point if it hadn’t happened on the second to last episode.  Hell, there were so many different plot points that could’ve been used rather than us seeing whether he or Jae Hyuk could win the Douchebag King contest.  Alas, that was not meant to be, and he ends up dying sad and alone.  You’ll forgive me if I don’t feel any sympathy for him there.

I’d like to discuss the acting jobs done in this drama, but the characters were so flawed and terribly developed that nobody could have done them justice.  I liked Yoo Ah In in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal”, I’m a fan of Shin Se Kyung, and I’m told that Lee Je Hoon is not as awful as I think he is from this drama so he can get a pass.  When you’re acting in the worst drama ever, it’s hard to standout.

At any rate, this drama is finally done so we can finally put this behind us.  I’m definitely looking forward to “Big” with Lee Min Jung and miss A’s Suzy, as well as “A Gentleman’s Dignity” with Kim Ha Neul.  I’m a huge fan of the writer for the latter and I know I can at least count on proper character development and witty dialogue based on her previous works.  “Big” I’m sure will be your typical Hong Sisters’ drama so it’ll prob be entertaining at least.

We deserve lots of cake and ice cream for sticking it through this nightmare. Kudos recapper!

    • kpopencarta May 24, 2012 at 1:13 am

same to you! I was going to write more about how awful this crap was, but figured I’d rather just enjoy my night hah.

    • TCB October 5, 2012 at 7:09 pm

AMEN! i think we should’ve been paid to watch this disappointing drama.

    • Mhonette April 12, 2015 at 7:39 pm

yeah i do agree with you guys…just a total nightmare!..i endured watching it because of You Ah-In on it that i have come to love him after watching Sungkyankwun Scandal…Feel like i want to rant to whoever is the director/producer or writer!..i don’t get it and don’t understand at all – after all the hard work and heartacge that Young Gul been through – does he realy needs to die?..also that Ga Young can’t stand her so annoying!

    • Deeyah February 8, 2016 at 9:59 pm

Honestly you are right I just wasted my time for nothing and this just mase me angry arrrgghg

  2. tari May 24, 2012 at 2:32 am

What?!! That’s the ending?? I haven’t watched it but was planning to. I quit after episode 14, so I just want to know how they will end this mess. Young Gul is dead? I don’t even like him but wow he’s dead? And Ga Young, she’s still running around with Jae Hyuk till the end? That’s the ending?? They threw the same old crap at us with every episode, and I just expect to get thrown with the same size of crap, but that ending is a truckload of crap.

Kudos to you for writing these recaps.

  3. SimSimani May 24, 2012 at 7:59 am

Seriously, thanks for the recaps and the commentary! Kudos to you – i’m still seething from the horrific execution of the story! The writer(s) was seriously on crack for thinking that this was some sort of high brow story – and the director, and actors … arrrgh! I cannot get over how I wasted 20 hours of my life on this. I’ve seen bad dramas before, but this one is unforgivable!

    • Anonymous December 30, 2012 at 10:39 am

      Yeah me tooo
Why give someone who working so hard To get rich then dying like that ?
What the writer(s) think about ?
So mean that if we work so hard just like young gul, then at the end we will dying too
      How can I accept it
But still the drama already end
      I can do nothing

  4. cecile May 24, 2012 at 9:24 pm

great review! i agree with everything you said! i think i’m up to epsiode 18 lol and i’m not even going to bother anymore. the drama was so repetitive and half the things i didn’t even understand where it was coming from. like what’s the point in bringing those flashbacks indeed! and what in the world happened to ana and jae back then? these things were never explained! and all the repetitive fighting and crying, blah blah. mad annoying! seriously a dumb drama. i didn’t even think the fashion was that amazing lmao.

everything (your review, not the drama lol) was spot on!

    • kpopencarta May 24, 2012 at 10:10 pm

The fashion was probably one of the worst parts of this show, and that’s saying alot lol. Honestly, the fashion in Yoona’s drama “Love Rain” is far far better, as is the plot and everything else. I’m still not sure how “Fashion King” pulled in the ratings it did compared to “Love Rain”.

      • Anonymous December 30, 2012 at 10:42 am

        Yeah me tooo
I also like love rain then bcoz at the end was happily
        Not like fashion king
Maybe writer hate who name young gul then give him to died

  5. tua May 25, 2012 at 5:10 am

now i want to know Douchebag King’s writer name….so i ll avoid all her work LOL…i dragged on till ep 10, with the hope on Anna’s coolness…but no…the writer had to kill that last strand of hope LOL…
but thank u for ur great recaps…it s sure much more entertaining and worthwhile than the whole drama itself….thanks again…i m totally ur fan now kekek

  6. Winsley May 29, 2012 at 3:36 pm

i saw this coming from episode 14… I skipped the rest of the episodes and i chose to watch epi 20…i got so upset knowing that almost everything i predicted turned out right, except for Young Gul’s death was unexpected on my side.I always wish movies writers would have different thought from mine.. I don’t know how much money they used on making this drama but it was so irritating from day four …no offense …its my first and last Korean drama that i have watched that has so much for me to criticize!! At least they should have reveal the killer,,, Good luck for Ann who decide to to pick her new destiny…!!!Jae hyuk should i give him credit for fighting so hard to be with Ga young even if his ways of fighting were evil??? YES/NO I’m not sure!!! Ga young did she real gave up on Young Gul or she loved both of them??!! This was pretty confusing to me.. If this drama was to be part of my literature class ..96% i would have fail this class since i cannot come up with any sensible concept from this drama…Its like the writer did not put any effort on this drama.. I didn’t even notice epi 20 was the last one untill i saw this page…crap i better not say more!!!!

    • Anonymous December 30, 2012 at 10:50 am

Maybe the writer put other the end in
Maybe the real ending is young gul and ga young live together and also have baby
Why writer make the ending like that who know tell me ? Did young gul do sth wrong ?
What the wrong that young gul did ?
Why don’t give young gul dying when at Sea ? If he also dying why don’t give him dying at first ? If he work so hard to improve that he can win jaehyuk why give him to died ? Why ?

      • Anonymous January 4, 2013 at 12:32 am

EYYISSHHHH What kind of ending is this? Jung Jae Hyuk was always the spoiled bratty rich family’s only son, while Kang Young Gul was although seemingly a jerk at start, the good guy

      • anyone January 4, 2013 at 12:42 am

Why does jaehyuk win GaYoung in the end?!!! YoungGul went to jail, survived hardships with her, for her, took her in when she was kicked out at the start, and GaYoung ends up with jaehyuk and younggul dies?!! Maybe the writers are trying to make some romeo and juliet tragic ending, or break the trend of the good guy winning, but in my opinion, its not going to win over much support from viewers. And plus, why sculpt out YoungGul so nicely, give him a sad, heartbreaking background, make other characters compliment him as cute, nice bodied, etc, and just shoot him and shatter him into pieces trash?! Then this story shouldn’t have happened. If this were to happen in the end, maybe YoungGul should’ve just died in the sea, GaYoung in the fire, and JaeHyuk dying old on his arse forever alone wiithout friends, as he deserves. Yeah, probably a happily ever after with YoungGul and GaYoung would’ve been way better,

        • Sharemyviews August 2, 2014 at 11:57 am

I totally agree with your reasoning. Though would be a boring ending plot, it would still be better, more logical to see GaYoung and YoungGul who went through all the hardships together sticks together as a family at the end and with a fresh start oversea. It’s a really horrible ending, I mean I don’t even think YoungGul heard GaYoung said she misses him too as his phone had already dropped out of his hand, and therefore no chance of them to clear up the misunderstanding. The writer just reminded us that YoungGul felt betrayed once again that every important person in his life had to leave him. As for the killer, I think it was jaehyuk’s father that hired the gunman because YoungGul messed with his business. They tracked him down in new York. I like Yoo ah In’s and his acting and the storyline is quite good. The writer put in efforts. I don’t find it boring at all because the motivation of wanting to see the two love birds together kept me going. This drama is not the same as the other dramas that throw out a bunch of story scenes on other characters of this drama. It merely focuses on the main characters. I do think it lacks in clearing up and explaining things and I don’t like the part where that old lady who is responsible for the outcome of the ending still living well. I like to see her be broke and goes to jail where she deserves.

    • Charles August 2, 2013 at 11:08 am

I was just as confused and frustrated by these characters. This writer was terrible and I was so angry. I really was thinking about not watching any more Korean Dramas. Many Korean Dramas have issues but this one was the worst Korean Drama I have ever seen. I couldn’t sleep after watching episode 20. I was that upset. I can understand a dark drama but please be written well!!!

  7. ANONYMOUS May 30, 2012 at 3:34 am

understand everything up to the part where jae hyuk intercept the letter young gul sent. the ending would be better if jae hyuk would just let go off ga young and get back with anna, happy ending ! for myself, i think that jae hyuk was just a spoil brat running around for girls, he didnt show any sign of success in his business (doesnt suit to be an entreperneur at the 1st place). however, young gul should be more forgiving, although yes, jae hyuk threaten him lots of time, in the end he bought up YGM and just wanted to work tgt, is jae hyuk character have to be that timid cant work with young gul?

    • anyone January 4, 2013 at 12:46 am

I agree. It should’ve just ended with GaYoung-YoungGul and JaeHyuk-Anna. Its just stupid seeing YoungGul get killed like that. really hate this ending. Felt like ripping my hair out. Lucky I read this first before I downloaded the last episode.

  8. Anonymous May 30, 2012 at 11:39 pm

same feelings,i was also quote”his little shop in Dongdaemun with Ga Young happily designing clothes at her little boutique” I was hoping to see this, where their kids run around happily while ga young is designing and Young Gul was shouting and attracting customers to their shop, boom with Young Gul buddy together, jae hyuk and an na meet again in paris like how they have met.I dun like the ending,i want to see Young Young together.

    • Anonymous December 30, 2012 at 6:25 am

      Wow that really nice thinking
      But drama already end
I don’t know why the writer give it end like this maybe YG don’t something bad

    • anyone January 4, 2013 at 12:48 am

Very agreeable. I think Young Young deserve to be together. Yes, Young Young’s kids running around, Il Gook and Bong Sook being like their uncle and aunt, happily ever after.

  9. Anonymous June 3, 2012 at 2:20 am

At least Yuri’s got Girls’ Generation to fall back on. She did a great job with her character, so at least her fans will continue supporting her. One good thing coming from this: Choi Anna fans will meet Kwon Yuri, discover she has a knack for song and dance, and then the SONE’s will multiply! *Hopelessly optimistic about this for the sake of her future career as an actress*

  10. Anonymous June 5, 2012 at 7:20 pm

i anticipated this drama very much because of yoo ah in .. i was planning to watch this weekend but ill pass….

    • kpopencarta June 6, 2012 at 8:23 am

yeah don’t waste your time. I sure wish I hadn’t…

      • aznmania June 18, 2012 at 4:18 pm

If only I had stumbled upon this amazing site before – wudda saved myself the trouble of watching this shitty drama right to the crappy end. What a disappointment! And to think I was actually looking forward to watching this drama coz yoo ah in was in it. 😦 sigh* 20 hours of my life wasted

  11. Anonymous June 7, 2012 at 12:42 pm

Glad I just read all the recaps for Fashion King instead of watching the whole thing. I thought people were just exaggerating when they said the ending was just shit…guess they weren’t. :/

  12. Anonymous June 9, 2012 at 5:24 am

)(^&%#$@#%&*^*&…boooooo to the drama writer… damn!!!

  13. anonymous June 11, 2012 at 7:40 pm

somebody please help me…i didnt understand how jae hyuk got tricked? when anna told him that tgm is young gul’s and he didnt check when he signed the contract etc….please help me understand

    • kpopencarta June 12, 2012 at 10:35 am

Basically, Jae Hyuk bought a foreign company without knowing that was recently taken over by Young Gul. As payment for buying the company, Jae Hyuk handed over shares of YGM. At least that’s my understanding of what happened anyway.

  14. anonymous June 11, 2012 at 7:40 pm

    i meant ygm, not tgm

  15. Anonymous June 20, 2012 at 8:47 pm

    Dammm….awfull ending.

  16. helenaa June 22, 2012 at 1:26 am

why the endig have a many ask ??? and the bad drama was i’m seen thank you for your recap

  17. LesLy June 23, 2012 at 8:29 am

sorry but I liked the end of the drama! since the beginning i didn’t like Young Gul, all the time when he was living with her never confesed his love or express any feeling for her, only jealousy, the feelings of Jae Hyuk seemed more sincere than Young Gul, Anna said the same, and when Jae Hyuk suffered because of Ga Young, for me was really sad, he tried to forget her, besides when Young Gul began to have power and money he became ambitious. why did he leave without her? i really don’t understand that, if he had gone to New York with her, things would be happy, because she did not care much about money, they would live happy together, but not he left her and she suffers for long time.
well … this is my opinion of the drama, i don’t understand who kill Young Gul, but he died in a luxurious house, as a rich person, with luxurious clothes.
I’m happy that Jae Hyuk and Ga Young have been together 🙂

sorry for my english, i’m starting to learn it … great page! great blog!!
    byeee 🙂

i was quite disappointed with the open endings of this drama Fashion King..i stayed up late at nights and watched the final episode at 5am in this morning. Aiyo..how frustating..

    • mama b October 17, 2013 at 10:30 am

of all d comment so far u re d best. youngul was a selfish & over ambitious man. hes just usin ga youn to get at jaeyk whom he knew truly lov her.

    • Jenstefi May 24, 2021 at 12:35 am

Im with ur opinion. Currently watching this drama coz of Je hoon and Se Kyung. I’m glad my bias couple end up together. I love how Jae Hyuk is protects Ga Young even if he was rejected a lot of times, he still pursue her no matter what. Sorry, for what had happen to Young Gul, i guess its his fate to lose everything coz of money and fame.

  18. Anonymous July 5, 2012 at 1:47 am

I really disappointed also…is there any second season..cos I think the ending is really really weird for a drama.. I just really regret buying the dvd’s…sigh…it just like half way drama…

    • kpopencarta July 5, 2012 at 9:36 am

There’s no point in having a second season as all the characters pretty much seem to have moved on with their lives at this point. Some more permanently than others…

      • yuske July 6, 2012 at 8:35 pm

unless they pull a “Hindsight/Blue Salt” (a shin se kyung movie), where they used a “salt bullet” and Young-Gul didn’t actually die from the shot. and then you could continue on with the storyline

  19. winx July 6, 2012 at 3:31 am

Excellent recap……the whole drama is rabbish.my friend warn not to wacth this drama coz its nonsense but i didn’t listened coz of yoo ah in,i like his character in sungkyungkwan but in this drama big disappointment to the writter..

  20. me July 18, 2012 at 12:08 am

I only watched bits and pieces of this show, but I happened to see the ending while my mom was watching it. Totally didn’t see that coming. I was just thinking it was really similar to “what happened in bali” except even more poorly executed. After googling, I come to find out it was the same screenwriter. I think they’re still trying to go with the same theme of rich vs poor and how the rich can be so cruel, make a mess of things, and get away with it while others suffer.

I don’t think that Ga Young ordered the hit, but I’m sure she either knew about it firsthand or saw it coming. I’m sure you can hear a gun shot over the phone, and she was way too stoic/calm about it. It was either Jae Hyuk or his father.

I was hoping it would be a sappy ending where she finds out Jae Hyuk hid the letter, runs over there and they reunite after Young Gul grovels and explains himself. Then they start over with a fresh clean slate. It would’ve been cliche, but better than this

  21. mari July 25, 2012 at 7:24 am

I don’t get the point why always some of the korean drama ending is not clarified the story and they did not give much attention the other character in the story , I know the story is all about the main cast but the story wouldn’t be complete with other character. Also the ending of the story you will figure out because of the start of the story will you see the ending but it is cute I’m bit dissapointed their ending is nit justified even they have next season they should be the better, atleast clarified the ending, I’m not against and also I’m not super intellegent person but I’m just a simple, ordinary person and I wanted to have a ending with clear story atleast even they have next story. But people who watch should deserved better ending. I’m sorry but this only my opinion, I’ve watch a lot of korean drama some of the ending I found it weird and difficult ending and its super short episode. but still love korean drama. ^_^

  22. tokkigirl August 25, 2012 at 5:47 am

I just watched this series because I like Kwon Yuri so much but heck! I stopped watching when I got to episode 12. This series is…..weird. I wish Yuri was placed on a better drama for her acting debut, she would’ve been better. (though in my opinion, she did a good job playing the role of Anna)

P.S._Geez! Why was Anna’s life so depressing?! She only experienced hardships, was there even a scene that she was truly happy? Instead of hating her for being the ‘bad person’ here, i felt sorry for her. She eventually became my favorite person here. Lol. XD

Anyway, Thank you so much for the review, atleast now I know not to further waste my time in this drama.

  23. ada September 3, 2012 at 7:09 am

im agreed that this drama hv an awful ending. I just dun noe who is behind the scene that wanna kill yong gul..feel very upset with this drama…then at least they shoul tell why ga yong choose jea hyuk..im very disappointed.

    • Anonymous September 9, 2012 at 3:51 am

Just finished watching the movie I feel really sad cause i was hoping that it would be Ga Young and Young Gul in the end. But this isn’t a Bad Movie at all.. I’m pretty sure most of the viewer’s expectation about the ending weren’t just the same as what was on the writer’s mind..Actually it was an open ending, The writer just give us the chance to end the story the way we want it to be…Two thumbs up to the “FASHION KING WRITER”!!!

    • dynice January 10, 2013 at 12:29 am

I really felt the same way…

  24. Anonymous September 10, 2012 at 3:32 pm

Hope there is a Fashion King 2…hopeful that Young Gul is not dead, just injured and eventually he and Ga Young will get together. Would like to purchase the entire series with English subtitles since I missed the first few episodes but can’t seem to find it.

    • dynice January 10, 2013 at 12:33 am

I’m hoping too that the publisher & management team of this series will make a fashion king 2 to make it a better series at the end.

Wow sound like u was angry then me
I was really angry when I seen the end like this ?Make me feel that Unbelievable ? why that stupid ending like that ? I have never expect that Korean drama ending like that make me 😦

  26. munmunfking September 25, 2012 at 10:52 pm

    i think this is one satisfactory ending . . . i like it . . everyone deserves what they get . . .=)

    • munmunfking September 25, 2012 at 11:02 pm

owh and one more thing, i think the only logical explanation is that ga young sent the assassin to kil young gul . . you know. . or she already know he will be dead somehow. . that is why she is not surprise . . she is always keeping things to herself and not telling anyone about it . . get it?

  27. Anonymous October 1, 2012 at 12:08 am

Oh No…… Horrible Ending! This is bad story.

  28. TCB October 5, 2012 at 7:08 pm

What can I say, BRAVO for the recaps! every word, every sentence..I COMPLETELY agree with everything. From the very beginning Fashion King seriously broke all the rules in korean drama. I was so confused in every episode. Until episode 14 I had no clue who would end up with who, USUALLY we kind of get an idea of the couples…*sigh*…. I would cheer on Jaehyuk, then cheer on Younggul, then feel sorry for Jaehyuk, then get annoyed with Younggul, then get annoyed of Jaehyuk, feel sorry for Younggul..in the end I didn’t feel any strong emotions when Gayoung ended up with Jaehyuk, it was more like “okay, so she ends up with him, moving on~” I was not on the edge of my seat AT ALL, well I WAS whenever Gayoung and Younggul kissed, but other than that the drama was very useless… I felt like we were just watching the same shit over and over again– never moving forward. And what’s up with the unexplained meaning behind the name GG? isn’t it obvious it’s Gul Ga from their names or is it something much deeper? It wouldn’t matter anywaise since we are used to getting useless things added to the drama. There was so many flashbacks we never saw before, flashbacks that were useless..we were never given explanations of Jaehyuk and Anna’s past relationship and how they ended braking up, I thought that Madam Jo and the lawsuit for the boutique was going to take longer and be a bigger issue, since it is related to Gayoung, the main character. THE ENDING, omfg the ending…*sigh* I was so mad. Younggul was always experiencing some type of misfortune, and on top of that he DIES..really?? i didn’t really think he deserved to die..i thought that was too much. And did anyone wonder how the h*ll he was able to afford that penthouse?! Did Gayoung ever host that fashion show?Speaking of Gayoung, wth! she was so emotionless.. SO many unexplained shit! I guess the director or writer saw that this drama was going nowhere that they had to end it like this. The ending matches the whole drama, i would have to admit, since moslty eveything didn’t make sense….this is by far the worst drama i ever watched. I love the actors and actresses but the drama itself just sucked.

  29. Anonymous October 8, 2012 at 4:32 am

Really bad ending and the title doesnt fit the story. Pity coz i like her and the rich guy. I was being almost contented. But the ending… It doesnt make sense. The worst korean drama i had watched

  30. rachel October 8, 2012 at 4:40 am

The worst ending ever. And the title doesnt fit the story. Really bad story. Pity for jae hyk and ga young. But its not their fault. Just interpreting what the writer and director says

  31. dramawillow October 10, 2012 at 3:26 am

Thank you for the recap. I thought this drama was going to be amazing, but it got really bad really fast. I stuck it out till episode 17 and realized I could save myself a few hours by just reading how it ends. I am shocked that they decided to kill him off in that way. I feel like the writer meant for this to air more episodes and was cut off after 20 due to the horrible direction it went. WAY too many things left unresolved…I was going to kill Young Gul myself if he almost gave Ga Young the necklace(but got angry and didn’t)one more time. Whoever wrote this Drama really missed the target.

  32. seciliayuna October 14, 2012 at 9:56 am

the worst ending ever..i spent 20 hours straight to watch it…really wasted my life..

  33. Anonymous October 17, 2012 at 9:40 pm

Just finished this drama…….can someone just kill me now? I think I am legitimately dumber from watching this.

  34. Anonymous October 28, 2012 at 1:11 am

Urge!!!wasted 20hours back to back!! FML!! The ending was not suppose to end this way!! Young young both should be together!! Urge!!!!!

  35. ann November 4, 2012 at 8:34 pm

my thoughts exactly on ur recap.. the ending sucked…. after all the drama in the end he was shot .. they should have used a silencer.. anyway its still a bad ending… urghh..

  36. nabihah November 10, 2012 at 8:21 pm

I am not very fond of how the final episode because I do not want young gul died and I wanted to ga young met with young gul.

    • nabihah November 10, 2012 at 8:25 pm

If I may wish to have the fashion king 2. because I am not content because the ultimate fashion king, young gul was dead. If I may make a fashion king 2, which is the same way as resembles the young gul.

  37. chris November 11, 2012 at 4:32 pm

what did the writer do?????? from start to the 2nd last episode works fine…. when it comes to ending it sucks!!!! i was really disappointed to what the writer did infact this caused me not to watch korean drama. i hope i could still find a fine drama to get back.

  38. PinkSone November 19, 2012 at 9:50 pm

I even bought a DVD and watched the whole series through! It was so disappointing but at least Yuri was in the drama, or else I’ve had gtfo at the first episode.

  39. Horeken November 19, 2012 at 9:54 pm

i think the director somtingh wrong. wat is this drama about?? and i dun even understatnd the ending…….why is young gol shot by the man? y lee ga young din hear that shot sound? y she was acting so emotionless? and tis is juz wasting my time only.

  40. A November 29, 2012 at 12:29 am

I think the writer did the right thing at the aspect of the romantic part coz Young gul never profess if he loves Ga young or not,Ga young truly love him but Young gul only like her and Ga young really deserve something good,by doing this Young gul created a space for Ga young to have feeling for Jae hyuk.Jae hyuk have a sincere love to her and for portraying the title of the drama,i think the writer got it wrong there coz someone has to be the Fashion king. For Young gul to just die like that,is so sad.

  41. Lulu December 3, 2012 at 11:03 am

Ironically Big turned out to be a dissapoinment with another ridiculous ending. I liked AGD for the bromance and the real news of it (I didn’t mind that there was no real plot, it was like hanging out with a group of friends) but the Colin storyline ruined it towards the middle.

  42. SoneSeKyungFan December 7, 2012 at 5:56 am

Because of SNSD Yuri I watched ‘ Fashion King ‘ , and I do love Shin Se Kyung but this drama does not make any sense at all .. but still I don’t regret watching this drama because I could see Yuri & Se Kyung but those kiss scene in the drama … tearing me apart ,. T_T …

  43. YOUNGGUL4EVA December 13, 2012 at 4:08 am

F**king Jae Hyuk. Should’ve destroyed the f**ker from the beginning. And Ga Young is the stupidest girl I’ve ever seen in a drama. For fuck sakes. The one drama I actually paid attention to had to have the shittest ending anyone could ever ask for. LIKE WTF? My hope was destroyed. I love you Young Gul ❤ and a big f**k you to Jae Hyuk, f**king dick.

    • Anonymous December 30, 2012 at 11:10 am

lol this cmt make me laugh
I also hate jaehyuk tooo he always act like no one rich like him
But still young gul show that he also can rich by he own hand without parent help him not just like that stupid jaehyuk always drunk bcoz of girl

    • ZozoBin March 19, 2023 at 6:00 pm

Happened to see this drama 10 years later and I completely agree with you. Jae Hyuk is a toxic prick. He blackmails her, assaults her, lies to her, manipulates her, eventually threatens her, and crushes a mutual love by stealing the letter, and maybe ends up having his rival killed. And we are supposed to think he loves her because he keeps weeping ? And the girl ends up with him ? She has such a victim mentality 😡 And some girls root for him ? No wonder there are so many feminicides! Young Gul had flaws but he is 200% healthier when it comes to love (except for his neurotic habit to do everything for her without asking her opinion). Pff, that ending sucks.

  44. Cheyenne December 27, 2012 at 9:47 pm

Fell in love with Yuri after this. Never heard of her personally until I watched this. Everyone talks about Yoona, but I like Yuri a lot better.

  45. ohsobrilliant December 31, 2012 at 5:51 am

Honestly, I do not understand why you all hate Jae Huyk so much. He is a business man who was feeling pressure from his parents, so of course he had to destroy Young Gul’s business. Maybe he was a little bit too pushy with Ga Young, but he tried a lot and helped her a lot to be met by her ungrateful attitude.

Meanwhile, I feel like Young Gul was the real dick. He never confessed his love forever and other than false promises, he treated her badly and for the longest time used her only for the money. Also, it seems to me like he wasn’t completely fair sharing the money, so probably someone he was friends with gave orders for his murders (like his friend that was a ganster or his friend’s boss or something).

Also, the drama would have been so much better if they exploited the fact that Ga Young had been rich and treated as a princess when she was a kid. That would explain her nasty attitude and why she got obsessed/fell in love with the first man who treated her mildly well even if he happened to be a douchebag like Young Gul.

  46. Zeppelin January 3, 2013 at 9:08 am

Just finished….& m totally LOST! I thot I missed out some scenes & thus am not able to make sense out of the drama! But your re-capped confirmed all the missing links which so many of us have question-marks over.
    Really a disappointing ending!!!

  47. Oppa'sGirl January 6, 2013 at 11:34 pm

I have never been more disappointed about an ending of a K drama as much as I was watching Fashion King. Way to become a dead king at the end. They were such a cute couple.

  48. dynice January 10, 2013 at 12:26 am

me & my cousin is watching it in Dramaload & daily motion., I’m in episode 15 & yet she finished & watched the last episode & I was so surprised knowing fr. her that Young gul died, why is it that it has really a bad & sad ending, to have seen that his character strive & work hard to achieve his goal & then to have seen that ga young really loves her, but maybe she love her career more than anything, I hope there will be a part 2 of this series coz it was really a lleft hanging ending.

  49. Anonymous January 10, 2013 at 9:36 pm

Kudos to your recap. the ending totally thrown me off, the ending could have been better and i at least expected it to be better. I am very disappointed with the whole Ga young going back and forth with them. I agree with you every step of the way. Douchebag King was just a bit much and i hate the fact Ga Young and Jae Hyuk are together in the end. the name of the drama did not even fit well with the drama at all. I expected there to be more of a fashion show kinda of drama but there were maybe a few and that’s it. very disappointing.

  50. Piera January 12, 2013 at 8:05 pm

I couldn’t get past episode 6 and went directly to episode 20. I don’t think I missed anything in between. I can’t figure out, however, who shot Young Gul and I don’t have the energy to watch the episodes in between. From what I did see, I was impressed with Yoo Ah’s acting but that’s because I already saw him do a fabulous job in Sungkyunkwan Scandal. That’s the only redeeming thing about wasting six hours of my time. Everyone watch A Gentleman’s Dignity. Well worth the time.

  51. Willis January 14, 2013 at 7:32 am

I couldnt finish mine up til dis moment..i was dumbfolded and confused…i suxpected a foulplay wen i was watchin episode 12 so i had to skip it til episode 20 i couldnt hold back my tears wen i saw wat happened to young gul .omg.. I wish i could contact the crew and beg for season two ..i really want the crew to hear our plea and act the season two for their fans sake and for our viewin pleasure..i wish they could be a suplimet so ga young and young gul would live as husband and wife and have a cuople of kids and live hapily ever after…i dnt care abt j.j hyuk…cuz young ,young are perfect together..expecially wen they kissed each other.atleast dats my best part in this drama…..

  52. Anonymous January 21, 2013 at 12:11 pm

    Very disappointed about the ending….

  53. Anonymous January 30, 2013 at 11:07 am

What a waste of time for the viewers and money for the producers. Everything was so poorly executed. I had never clicked fast forward so much on my PC ever. The title in itself did not justify the story, it focused so much on greed, jealousy and selfishness rather than fashion and supposedly their talent in designing. Two thumbs plus my two big toes pointing down !

  54. Anonymous February 3, 2013 at 12:14 am

srsly which brainless producer makes such a end, it really makes me angry, there is no point in such end, never ever going to watch sth from choi moon suk

  55. redo February 13, 2013 at 8:12 pm

just say….it could be a true story/real so the ending became like tht….i had watched a lot of korean drama and this is the most crappy ending….so i dnt think the crew or producer didn’t aware on this matter…it might be sumthing we dnt know like i said just now = could be a true story/happened in real life……

  56. marvellous February 18, 2013 at 9:39 am

  58. Anonymous February 21, 2013 at 10:59 pm

they should have told us what we were getting into. because of this nonsense drama,i tend to watch the end of any drama before i start it. this drama is officially the worst korean drama ever

  59. Anonymous February 21, 2013 at 11:06 pm

i cant believe i wasted my time on such crap. the writer should have just done us some justice and forget about writing this story when it first came to his/her mind.

  60. Anonymous February 21, 2013 at 11:10 pm

if only one can sue a writer for writing a stupid story

  61. Anonymous March 12, 2013 at 6:12 pm

I was very upset with this drama, cause the ending unhappy. Unfortunately, god actor with bad drama story, it’s just waste my time only to see it.

  62. akoe March 12, 2013 at 6:14 pm

it’s very dissapointed, upset, and just waste my all time to see that drama.

  63. Anonymous March 29, 2013 at 10:04 am

Who was Choi Anna talking to? they didnt even tell you who she was talking to! There was really no point of the flashback when Kang Young Gul and Lee Ga-Young if she doesn’t remember! I would have thought that she will remember and go find him but she didnt! I can’t even believe that she is going out with Jung Jae Hyuk and went to New York with him! Jung Jae Hyuk was messed up to hide the letter from Lee Ga-Young! It was also messed up how Lee Ga-Young fell in love with Jung Jae Hyuk after he said shit about her in front of her and all that. Its funny how Lee Ga-Young didnt even hear the gunshot at the end, but i think Lee Ga-Young is the one who called a hit on Kang Young Gul! after he said he misses her, the guy shot him and Lee Ga- Young look like she was about to cry, ethier for sending a hit on him or that he said i miss you! She look like she smiled a little before she said back she misses him too! There better be a Fashion King 2 where maybe Kang Young Gul is still alive!! they should of ended it with Kang Young Gul shot on the news to see if she is the one to call the hit or not! it was a bad ending so i hope there is a season 2 where Kang Young Gul survived!

  64. felicia April 4, 2013 at 3:42 am

Is it that love don’t exist in korea? Because their movies sucks! First it was Iris then The man call God and now Fashion king. These three korean movies that have mentioned the actors never get the chance to live happily with the love of their lives and later died at the end after much suffering and struggling. The worst of it is that you don’t get to see who kill them at the end, don’t think I will ever waste my time to watch their movies again bcos they are meaningless. Gosh!

  65. Amaka April 16, 2013 at 5:58 pm

All the way from Africa this series is the worst and mst awful korean series i have eva watched.so who is the fashion king?THE COLD BLODED OVER grown baby of Jfashions.and to tink that young gul ever wasted hs affection on young lee is d mst pathetic. I regret koming across this series and viewers should be compensated.

  66. tha_chi April 21, 2013 at 9:31 pm

yes, once again. I totally agree with you all. sad ending? no I thing this series totally just a joke.
poor Young Gul, even if this plot walk like the King Daud in the Bible story but the knight (Uria) is better at least he still have parents that love him, but, what the hell with Yong Gun?from start till the end no happiness moments? how bad God let him was born just for to take him go with that way.
by the way.. the are did the role with the good way, wonder what their think when taken this role? I wish for the 2nd FK (just a wish), hahahha

  70. mordew May 3, 2013 at 9:08 pm

Lol. The end of this drama is pretty non sense… poor yoo ah in.. how can his story and his character turns to be so bad.. hopefully his JOJ will turn to be good… and ga young.. she never get any expression right ..and i doubt the tears are real. Shin se kyung lacks in charm and how can in the whole show her ga young is so tasteless because of her emotion less character.. she better gets one acting coach for her own so that we can see the shift in her emotions…unless that blank expression of her will keep wandering during her next drama.

  71. Anonymous May 5, 2013 at 9:33 pm

I don’t like the end of this drama.. Why jaehyuk stole the letter from young gul? if the letter received by ga young. I thought that the end of this story is more better.. and as you can see at the end of eps 20.The murderer shoot young gul at his head. but it Bleed in his stomach. And who is the murdered? I really hate.

  72. ALINDA May 7, 2013 at 10:23 pm

YOUNG GUL!!i dont like this drama!why young gul?why don’t jae hyuk?i like Anna with jaehyuk its better..

  73. peony88 May 14, 2013 at 8:27 am

a good show but I was disappointed with the ending… is Young Gul dead or what lying in the pool with his designed overcoat ….. after all his struggling and how could he died and that woman of his, so quick went to his rival…???? should have a better ending such as at least Young Gul could have his ’empire’ and forget those not worth remembering so such as ga young!!! arrrrrrrrrggggggggggggh!!!!!!!!!!!!

  74. Anonymous May 15, 2013 at 1:06 pm

  78. deborah June 14, 2013 at 4:46 am

I can’t believe that’s how it ended. I mean i suspected it won’t be good but i never thought it could be this bad. Thank God i didn’t buy the season2 it would have been such a waste of money.

What was the writer thinking! This drama would have been a knock off but instead they just turned it into a first class crap.

  79. uche June 17, 2013 at 12:23 am

That movie is a mess how can they act that kind of movie and have that endin… Final episode is a total mess

  80. ariza June 17, 2013 at 3:39 am

I don’t know what the moral lesson that given by this drama, although at first time I watch, I was interested by the plot, character, and fashion. By the time being, I got confused with the plot that nothing changed, just circling about YGS, pfff…

The illogical ending. Why Choi An Na got the easy way to live although she has no talent, but Young Gul must suffered enough and end his live by got shooted. From two point of this, I have no idea what ‘specific message’ that would be conclused from this drama.

The ending of Ga Young and Jae Hyuk for being together, I think not to bad, that the fair reason, because Young Gal never confess and bear Ga Young for waiting forever.

I think this is the 2nd drama that has the worst ending after I watch Memories of Bali.

  81. Julie June 19, 2013 at 10:20 am

I only watched this because of Yuri (Anna) I hate the fact that I spent 3 nights and days watching this crap only to have to most stupidest ending ever. Whatever, I just wanted to see my Yuri. But can’t believe she had to waste her time filming this crap. She’s a busy and tired person as a Girls’ Generation member to film this shit.

  82. Anonymous July 25, 2013 at 4:26 pm

What kind of ending is this, i wasted 20 hour of my life watching this drama this is a worst drama i ave ever watch

  83. crazyfinder July 30, 2013 at 5:32 am

    the shitting ending drama ever!!
i was like waiting for the drama to the end up to 20 and THAT IS THE ENDING??
WHAT WAS THE WRITER THINGKING ABOUT?? it’s focking unbelievable-___-

  84. F July 30, 2013 at 5:32 pm

To sum everything up, Young gul is just someone who is too greedy and forceful, Jae hyuk is someone who just can’t stop messing with others’ businesses and can’t stay with one girl, Ga young just can never choose the right person, Jae hyuk’s dad just love his business more than anything else, Anna is too high of herself, and any other characters are useless.

  85. Aneey August 4, 2013 at 9:10 pm

I’m so upset. How comes the end of this drama is so dreadful. The worst ending that I had ever watched :’/ Just one word that I could describe about the characters in this drama, ”IMMATURE”

  86. Ade August 24, 2013 at 11:18 am

Dis is nonsence ending if u dont no how to end film why are u sellin it

  87. mimi September 7, 2013 at 3:06 pm

seriously???this drama is a total wack!!i knw it’s cliche but i still would have prefered a happy ending for ga young and young gal or atleast the success of young ga even though he sometimes acted like a jerk,he’s still the only one qualified to be the good guy in the movie..and i thought only the good guys won..but the writer(s) of this movie proved my theory wrong…this is total waste of time..

  88. secretta October 3, 2013 at 7:33 pm

the worst ending. i like kang young gul, but how come he dead just like that!! lee ga young no emotion and the president very cruel to his son.

  89. Piopa October 15, 2013 at 10:09 am

I totally agree with u guys awful ending and a waste of time this drama is the worst I’ve ever watched 😦

  90. madness October 18, 2013 at 11:22 pm

omg im so mad/angry/upset at the moment!! wtf was that?? I was so shocked I couldn’t even cry when he got shot and she didn’t even hear it and saying that she misses him too omg thats so annoying…. ._. so mad, fuck this

  91. Anonymous October 19, 2013 at 1:48 pm

what the fucck what that ending?? What’s the moral? Rich aristocratics will always have the last word? Know your place and shut your mouth, like in the bathroom scene with Jae hyuk and Young gul where JH dries his hands on YG’s suit? I mean wtf, JH has been a complete psychopath and manipulator all along, never understanding when Ga Young tells him she loves YG, always interruping their happiness and interfering between them. And he wins…Wao. Faith in humanity, destroyed. And yes how did she not hear the bullet shot at the end? And couldnt she have moved her ass a bit more all throughout and tell JH to get the fuck off? This could have ended so much better, so many ways to have run this drama better and make that the hard working guy gets rewarded by his work and honesty, or at least live happily with humility in his workplace with a loving Ga young next to him. God i’m so dumbfounded, what to think of this. Maybe the writers and producers just had no more inspiration and money and thought, ok let’s put and end to this..fuck. At least i wanna watch more of shin se kyung, what a beautiful lady. I just wish she has roles where she’s a punchy lady, one with energy. She missed that all throughout the drama…Anyway at least here i found great recaps, loads of fun reading you, some of your annotations are hilarious! you rock and great job!! thanks a lot for your hard work:) see you another time:)

  92. Anonymous October 19, 2013 at 1:59 pm

i also wonder if the guy at the end who shoots Yong Gul is Jae Hyuk or not. That would be a complete mindfuck and no justice in this world…

  93. Yeemun November 3, 2013 at 2:22 am

I think that the writer just want to wrap up things in the end.The ending is really weird….someone came and shoot young gul ??!! And Ga Young was very weird too , if she loves young gul then just go and find him , and why she end up with jae hyuk instead.. this drama is totally the worst drama I have ever seen, and it waste my time……

  94. Mia RIsza Lee November 27, 2013 at 12:47 am

i’ve watch until ep 8..but now i’ve stop watching anymore…the ending really weird… i fan of yoo ah in so that i watch this drama…but it was so unexpected and frustrated me… why do yoo ah in act as like that..i thought when act as a lead role become a nice and happy ending but it worthless.

I am a fan of watching K Drama and especially Romantic comedies. The Fashion King is the most confusing drama ive seen but to be honest i look forward in finishing the whole series. The flaws in the character… the incidents jumping from one case to another. Characters portraying roles that sounds like their stupid of whats going around them. The conclusion is even worst that in all left us not with positive conclusion but a waste of watching 20 episodes. Even it is not a happy ending they should have ahown the viewers of what happened for all their struggles. Huh bad ending. It doesnt even an intellectual ending.

Anyways this might be the writer’s style and this is beyond my control as a viewer. But lets admit it they got us to watch every episodes to find answers to our questions. Nevertheless, it reached the final episode and nothing was answered.

The drama was extremely interesting. From my point of view from that of last episode, there should be a contination part of it coz, Young Gul was shot nd Gal Young did not gave up with Jae Hyuk. What is going to happen to Anna as she went on a trip to Italy?

After watching ”Big” I was so disappointed with ending that I didn’t watch dramas for couple of months…now after watching the end of this drama I don’t think I will ever watch kdramas again.

Very disappointed with the ending, will not watch if there is second part or second season, stupid writer and producer!

Honestly, I have to come to this blog to realize that I’m not crazy for not understanding the end of this drama. But I guess I’m perfectly normal!! I must agree with all you say. For Ga yung, I think a character is a girl who never had any financial security in life or hope and always need someone to lean on. That’s why she was always doing back and forth between both of them. Deep inside her, she didn’t want to struggle like she always did. I guess that’s why she always preferred the easiest solution like work at Jung company or ask for help… She wants her happiness first, even if she pretend’s not. I also think that she might loved the bad guy since the beginning but didn’t want to accept it cause she had a debt at first to yung Gul. Still theory up there… But like you said now thinking about it, there is no much things that made sense in this drama!

  101. Anonymous May 20, 2014 at 2:23 am

Am so pissed by the ending of the movie..it makes no sense!…how can Young Yul die jux like dat?

  102. Felicia June 14, 2014 at 10:18 am

I think the man who killed Young Gul was ordered by Jae Hyuk dad’s! He did mention at some point of the show at the last episode”what do you think we should do to ungrateful people like him” or something like that. Too much literature and I don’t even know if it’s correct but I seriously find this show kind of ridiculous. A man who is poor got rich and wants revenge then failed and died in a more ridiculous death. Another man who is rich, never got poor and got what he wanted which is Ga Young. This show seeks for too much revenge and payback!

  111. Anonymous July 12, 2015 at 11:28 am

the writer of fashion king is the worse of all the writers in the world

  112. Ana August 26, 2015 at 8:14 am

This ending was just terribble. I understand not wanting the stereotypical happy ending and I personally don’t care if ga young ended up with young gul since she started of flip flopping between him and that psychopathic stalker Jung ah but to have that giant baby win in the end was just senseless. At least let no one get the damn girl. Liars , deceivers murderers and thieves win and hard work is meaningless. That’s why he ending sucked.

  113. LOL September 2, 2015 at 3:31 pm

I wasted 20 hours.. Did I miss something? the worst ending in my life….. go home and fly a kite….

    • Manoj November 2, 2015 at 3:28 am

This drama convey a message that person should be ready to do anything that even should go to the extend of killing a person to get his love and also say’s poor people can not win rich people even if he win he is going to stamped by rich people like in this drama so finally evils will remain in the world for long time good people will die so quickly finally I to wasted my time of 20hr so I have right to blame him as well I respect him for having the talent to make people watch this drama for 20hr that what I feel

  114. RnL December 21, 2015 at 9:04 pm

Man, the ending totally bummed me out. Alot of things didn’t make sense. During the entirety of the series, Young Gul fights tooth and nails for Ga Young. It was totally out of character for him to give up on her on the final episode. My theory is Jae Hyuk’s father ordered the hit. Sadly, I think the phone call between Ga Young and Young Gul ended after their “I Miss You’s” and thats why Ga Young was so emotionless. Eventhough it is a melodrama, the writers went too far in making it a tragedy.

  115. Aily January 10, 2016 at 10:15 am

oh man! i don’t know what to say . i just can’t believe about the ending . Really pisses me off ! so sad .. ;((((

  116. Rachel (@canada_rachel) January 30, 2016 at 3:08 am

The ending didnt make an sense at all. I was so mad…THey finished it off so badly like what the hell is this. Why can’t the story just end as the girl in the hospital then won’t it just solve the problem . WHATEVR ending… this is the worst. i rather the story just end as everyone dying than one person not knowing why gets shot!!! THIS IS STUPID

  117. iheartkdrama March 5, 2016 at 2:13 am

WTF??? I love Kdrama but this is the worst one I have ever watched! Great recap comments……exactly! What was the point of the necklace if Ga Young couldn’t even remember it?! And who killed Young Gul? …. loan shark?… hitman ordered by Jae Hyuk? And did Ga Young go completely deaf that she could’t hear the gunshot?!!! What a women!!! Young Gul is better off without having to deal with that traitor who goes off with the same jerk that destroyed him. I’m going to avoid watching any dramas from this writer. Just awful. I don’t mind a main character being killed off once in awhile, but please, at least make the rest of the plot have purpose!!!!

  118. Anonymous April 9, 2016 at 11:04 pm

  121. Anonymous July 11, 2016 at 11:05 am

You guys have all forgotten about the guys that almost threw him in the ocean in episode 2 or 3,that he promised rolex wrist watches and ran away latter. Remember they promised to kill him if he didn’t deliver, which he didn’t. This guys always keep their promises.

so im searching for reviews AFTER i watched this drama .i wish i search for it BEFORE i started to watch it !!WTF did i just watch !!!!!!

  125. luis February 10, 2017 at 4:48 am

The last episode was terrible ever.ga young + young gul were supposed to be happy together, in fact that they endure, hardworking, fighting for being poor and humiliated by jung family. how could a madam Jo being hangout after what she did to ga young.it doesn’t show who sent the killer and for what reason. Also the time when young gul call her girlfriend the reaction and impulses of ga young was strange, how come the person you love and longtime not seen each other be like that. It’s total insane

  126. hotrom November 21, 2017 at 2:14 am

I hate the ending so much,so much suffering for yung gul, especially after all they’ve been through together,so they didn’t end up together, rather he got killed at last,by who?

  127. Anonymous July 24, 2018 at 5:30 pm

On my mind, there should be a pashion king 2. Which, explains and makes the drama more beautiful and exciting….expecting more scenes about fashion shows and beautifully dresses design by Young Gul and Ga young.

The scene for ending gives us the hint that there’s a part 2 for this drama because for me all of the problems wasn’t yet solve and it makes a fans or the televiewers to be curious and demanding for a beautiful ending with this wonderful drama….

  128. Debbie Tiausas Tindoy Ladaga December 27, 2018 at 3:47 pm

I just finished watching this drama and I think it’s good. It’s just right for YG to die since he is a fraud. Only JH could give GY everything, (happiness, love and wealth) unlike YG who always cause harm to GY. I like the ending. Thumbs up to the writer!!!!

  129. Miracle January 2, 2020 at 1:30 pm

Worst Korean movie have ever watched

  130. Andy W April 8, 2020 at 10:24 pm

Wow. 2020 here and I picked up this drama because I was interested in the fashion aspect. But I wish I had seen your review beforehand because it’s everything I would’ve said myself. What fashion? Maybe 1-2 episodes had some interesting fashion concepts, and I *guess* Anna was pretty fashionable. Anna ended up being the only character I didn’t hate, but it’s really a waste how she “developed” from a successful, attractive, independent character into a pitiful, dependent one cast aside by everyone. The two male leads… pathetic… really can’t vouch for either. Especially Jae Hyuk, this guy is a prime example of sexual harassment. And Ga Young — please shoot me too if I fell for someone like that; she’s the most unthankful, indecisive, shapeshifting “protagonist” I’ve witnessed in any kdrama ever. Ugh!

    • Anonymous July 28, 2023 at 7:48 pm

I watched the whole series of fashion king. The owner of the boutique that was stolen from Ga Young did everything in her power to keep it. At least kang was surprised that she had someone hidden who knew the real cause of Ga Young parents death. Kang wanted a family, and really thought of Ga Young as a sister. There was a little smile on Kang’s face after he exploited one last time of GaYoung.Jae was beaten by his father because of his love for Ga Young, and was exploited one last time by Kang….GaYoung realizes all that Jae has done for her, even though she still had a love for Kang….But, she finally realizes her dream of finishing school. I believe she really fell in love with Jae. They also seemed to be doing better in NY. Remember when Jae said the people in NY were nicer and didn’t care for a degree or not. He prospered there also. I believe Kang was going to kill himself….who would put a hit on him? The Italians…. since all the money was gone. However, should have had a silencer on the gun. GaYoung tells Kang basically she is happy… she did miss Kang, but, she had a new life. Kang was definitely dead…. The open ending of the series would have NY cops investigating, and the last person Kang talked to was GaYoung…. And she had an alibi, so rule them and Jae’s family out. The cops would also look into Michael, and did Kang go see him….. Anna was saying thank you to Jae. She had a new life also. Jae kept calling his family as normal. They certainly were not… They were a toxic and dysfunctional family.
Kang was greedy and should have taken the offer of $10 million offered by Jae’s father.Kang did have a sense of right and wrong when it came to GaYoung’s childhood. I don’t know Korean society. Maybe they do think more when one is born into wealth, anyone who works their way up is considered something less. Here in the US, we love an underdog winning…We root for the underdog. I am pleased that GaYoung and Jae ended up together. Kang was way over his head regarding his way to wealth. Even though he really saw GaYoung as a sister, he exploited her the last time by playing on Jae’s love GaYoung. That was pretty cold asking for money for a fashion show which he was never going to do. Again, if you look closely, you do see a little smile that he obtained money, and the last thumbing of the nose at Jae. He had to be thinking one step ahead, especially when he told GaYoung that maybe one day she would have to support him. Even though he missed GaYoung because she always believed in him, he still took the 100-200k and ran…. Maybe he thought there was opportunity in NY…..

I agree, this drama is so messed up and pointless, like i don’t even know what the plot is about anymore and the same scene is going on over and over.
The person Anna talking to in the end, i thought it’d be Young Gurl.😨

  136. Nicolas June 19, 2022 at 3:18 pm

The ending was horrible! I believe the Chairman had him killed. I can’t believe Ga Yung didn’t hear that gunshot though. Her character was just pathetic I thought. Crying 2-3 times each episode and I think she only smiled or seemed happy 3 times. Really disappointed in this show!!!
